A title chosen very aptly- Manmarziyaan, is a film that will keep you wonder, how Human nature is so vivid and out of proportion. Society has a number of characters- as wild as Rumi (Tapsee Pannu) and Vicky (Vicky Kaushal) and as composed as Robbie (Abhishek Bachchan). The film showcases the complexities of human nature. Well, you can divide Manmarziyaan in two parts- the first half is filled with a wild boy, wild girl, wild love, wild sex and everything wild finding place in a NOT so wild family. Whereas, the second half is subtle, silent, compassionate love story where love is more sane, cultivated and quieter.
Being an Anurag Kashyap film, it is bound to be intense and also has a touch of darkness, best explained by the song of the film, “grey wala shade”. Manmarziyaan is a film that cannot be labeled as good or bad! It is a film inspired by the present generation. Though, Robbie’s character seems a little unrealistic. But I do wish that we have such MEN on this planet.
Tapsee is an actor who does not need to prove her skills with every film. But yes the more you see her the more you love her. Vicky Kaushal in the film is amazing and again this doesn’t need an explanation. Abhishek Bachchan who has returned on the big screen after a good long break, acts his usual self. There is no main lead or second lead but everyone plays a protagonist in his own way and very well.
The movie leaves you a little baffled sometimes but other times it leaves you with sensitivity here and there. It is a sequence of some well written scenes and some amazingly acted ones too.
What elevates the film is it’s music! Music and Tapsee stayed with me for long after coming out of the theatre. Another thing that I loved in the movie was how the duality of human mind is captured through the twin sisters and brothers. It is definitely a good watch this weekend!
